Important Information for Same-Sex Couples

On June 26, 2013, the Supreme Court ruled that Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is unconstitutional. Therefore, Social Security no longer is prevented from recognizing same-sex marriages for purposes of determining entitlement to or eligibility for benefits.

Replacement Social Security Cards:

To get a replacement Social Security card, you must show us documents proving your identity. You also must show us documents proving your age and U.S. citizenship, if they are not already in our records.

You must present original documents or copies certified by the agency that issued them. We cannot accept photocopies or notarized copies. All documents must be current (not expired). We may use one document for two purposes. For example, we may use your U.S. passport as proof of both citizenship and identity.

Disability is something most people do not like to think
about. But the chances that you will become disabled
probably are greater than you realize. Studies show that a
20-year-old worker has a 1-in-4 chance of becoming disabled
before reaching full retirement age.
This booklet provides basic information on Social
Security disability benefits and is not intended to answer
all questions. For specific information about your situation,
you should talk with a Social Security representative.

Why Hire Kay Tracy?!

1. To me, you are a person – not a file. I actually care about my clients.

2. I know what I am doing.
Before going solo, I worked for years as a Legal Aid lawyer; then with a very experienced Social Security Attorney; then, with a firm that hired me specifically because of my experience and their desire to develop a Social Security division as part of their successful Workers Compensation and Family Law practice.

3. I will always return your calls, tell you what to expect and help you through the process.
